My 2024 Review

Here we are, finishing another year in life.

And I feel as if I just had a dream.

And that dream, probably, started from 2023.

Three semesters into life at MIIS, I spent the first semester struggling with significant changes in life, geographically, financially, and psychologically, then the second semester struggling with stress management, time management and handling my life-work-study balance. Now, at this end point of 2024, I am waiting for my third semester’s final scores, which may decide whether I will still be allowed to stay on the Translation & Interpretation program track.

Throughout this year, I battled stress, professional burnout, and procrastination—three challenges that seemed to converge when I needed the most focus and energy for my studies. Despite the struggles, I am grateful to say I’ve made it through.

Key Lessons Learned:

  1. Set Goals Realistically: Aim high but stay grounded.
  2. Overcome Procrastination: Fear of failure often fuels procrastination. Taking small, actionable steps keeps the momentum alive.
  3. Avoid Last-Minute Rush: Inspiration doesn’t always strike under pressure.
  4. Honor Commitments: Timeliness matters. If delays are unavoidable, communicate openly to maintain trust and relationships.
  5. Accept Weakness: It’s okay to ask for help. Strength lies in acknowledging limitations.
  6. Prioritize Relationships: Family, friends, and loved ones are irreplaceable—never sacrifice them for career or academics.
  7. Find Strength in Faith: Prayer helps calm worries and provides solace during tough times.

All that said, 2024 wasn’t just challenging—it was transformative. Completed two demanding semesters. Overcome health challenges during multiple hospital visits. Got my driver’s license, my own car, and reached 11,000 miles in just 10 months. Traveled, connected and reconnected with cherished people. And planned and organized a sweet, small-scale wedding, saying “I do” to the love of my life, sealing one of the most significant moments of my journey so far.

Looking ahead, I carry with me gratitude for everyone who has been by my side: my mom, close friends, and my husband. Above all, I thank God for guiding me through the highs and lows, for His constant presence, and for bringing the right people into my life.

There’s still much to achieve, but I am anchored by the knowledge that I have one home to return to and one God to rely on.

Happy New Year, everyone! May 2025 be a year of blessings, prosperity, and productivity for us all. May you stay safe and sound, be deeply loved, and always surrounded by caring and lovable people.
