Among all who are not good at using technologies/tools, I am one of the best. I assume myself as being quite objective on this.

I have (painful) experience of using Trados. It’s definitely not for me. If I have to choose one from them, I’d go for MemoQ.

First of all, it’s cheaper.

Secondly, it doesn’t require a lot of customized configurations – not that it’s simplified, but it’s just user-friendly.

It’s just user-friendly. As much as how common senses are valued in today’s society, being user-friendly is forever easy said than done – just look at Trados.

I have experience translating idml files, the source file format out of Adobe InDesign. I uploaded to both MemoQ and Trados with default project initial settings. And I could just start working from MemoQ immediately. It automatically finished segementing. It kept the design formats by tags, instead of reflecting them in strings. This makes the interface SUPER clean. SUPER. Both of these couldn’t be automatically done in Trados. Fact is, I tried in Trados for multiple times during the past months, trying to figure out the right configerations for translating InDesign files. Yet I haven’t figured it out until this moment.

One more thing that I really like about MemoQ is its Resource Console. It is super user-friendly. It consoles everything I need about TMs in the same place, so that I can find what I want/need quickly.
